The mild but rich flavour of the Germidour garlic makes it a wonderful variety to grow at home; if you don't have a large garden space, the purple-streaked white cloves can be planted in raised beds, containers or pots.

This French soft neck garlic variety should be planted in late Autumn for harvesting in the following summer.

Key Information:

• Plant in late Autumn for an early Summer harvest
• Adding a general fertiliser will help to improve harvest yield
• Garlic should be planted in a sunny position in well drained and fertile soil
• Toxic to pets and a skin irritant to humans

Advice & Tips:

• This garlic variety prefers full sunshine.
• To ensure all of the plant's energy goes towards growing a large bulb, remove flower stems as they begin to grow.
• When planted, garlic will deter many garden pests.
• Each garlic bulb should be divided into individual cloves before planting. Space each clove 15cm apart, with its tip 2.5cm below the soil level; rows should be spaced 30cm apart. Once the leaves start to yellow, lift the garlic out of the soil and leave to ripen on the surface.
