Leek Musselburgh - An 'ageless' favourite producing thick, medium length, tender stems with broad leaves. A very hardy and reliable variety of Scottish origin, introduced in 1834 which prefers rich well drained soil.

Key Information:

• Keep soiled well drained and avoid frosts
• Do not firm plants in when transplanting them outside
• Earth up stems in autumn for extra whiteness

Advice & Tips:

• Sow indoors in 7.5cm pots of seed compost
• Sow singly, cover with 1.5cm of compost
• Firm gently and keep nice and moist
• Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid
• Keep at approx 15 degrees, seedlings appear within 14/21 days
• Sow outdoors in a prepared seed bed in a suitable growing position
• Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart, cover with fine soil. firm gently and keep moist
• When 12cm tall transplant to growing position.
• Keep moist and weed free
