This Windowsill Greenhouse with plastic seed cell units is ideal for germinating seedlings & growing cuttings. This unit is designed for small spaces such as windowsills. For full growing instructions see below.
For Germinating Seeds:
Fill the cell units with a quality seed & cutting compost. Water thoroughly with a fine sprinkler. Sow seeds in the cells as recommended on the seed tray packet. Cover with 2-3mm layer of compost. Assemble the greenhouse & place in a bright position. A soil temperature of 15.50c - 240c is best for the germination of most seeds. Ensure the compost is always kept moist. When your seedlings are 2.5-5cm high, transplant them into a 10cm pot, 24 or 40 cell seed tray insert or other suitable containers.
For Striking Cuttings:
Fill the cell units with a quality seed & cuttings compost. Water thoroughly with a fine sprinkler. Take cuttings during the growing season. Cut the stem just below a leaf joint. Remove the lower leaves & insert into the compost. Firm in. Assemble the greenhouse & place in a bright position. A similar soil temperature as for seeds is best. When the roots are well-formed, put into a large container.
General Tips - for seeds:
Sowing can be started 2-4 weeks before the dates advised on your seed packet when using the Windowsill Greenhouse. Observe other recommendations on the seed packet closely.
General Tips - for cuttings:
A rooting hormone in liquid or powder form can help with the success rate & speed of rooting of cuttings. If cuttings will early on, shield the greenhouse from bright light for a few days. Ensure that the compost is kept moist at all times.
General Tips - for seeds & cuttings:
Never overwater the compost as waterlogging will kill your young plants, prevent germination of seeds & successful rootings of cuttings.
Cleaning your Windowsill Greenhouse:
The green tray & six celled units can be washed in a good quality garden sterilant. The clear lid should be wiped with a cloth dampened with water only. DO NOT USE CHEMICALS OR SOLVENTS.
