Albert Bartlett Vivaldi Seed Potatoes - Second Early
By growing Vivaldi potatoes, you are supporting sustainable agricultural growing while enjoying a delicious, reliable crop. These potatoes can be harvested early for smooth, creamy new potatoes that work brilliantly in potato salad as they hold their shape after being boiled. If left to grow they also make good larger baking potatoes with excellent an texture.
When growing second early potatoes in the ground avoid planting in soil where potatoes have grown for two years in succession to reduce the risk of disease.

How to Grow:
If planting into open ground, dig over the area and remove any weeds, adding a general fertiliser and well-rotted compost if available. Plant each tuber 10cm deep and 30cm apart in a row, with approximately 60cm between each row.
Keep the potatoes well watered throughout the growing process; blight can be avoided by keeping the leaves as dry as possible. When the plants have reached a height of approximately 10cm, draw up earth around the sides of the plants to encourage additional potatoes to grow and to exclude light from the tubers.
To grow in containers or potato bags, place approximately 10cm of dampened multi-purpose compost into the base and evenly space three tubers on top. Cover with 10cm of compost and water sparingly, ensuring that the compost stays moist but not waterlogged. Once the plants reach a height of approximately 10cm, add more compost and repeat again when the plants grow through this additional layer. Continue with this process until the container is full.
Potatoes should be ready to harvest in approximately 15 - 22 weeks or after flowering.
