Monthly Advice For June
Water!Keep an eye out for plants drying out, ideally water daily in the evening to prevent the strong midday sunlight scorching your plants. Summer Bedding.Continue to plant out summer bedding, nothing can compete with the splashes of colour that are created by these annual plants. But remember many bedding plants have small root systems and could, in hot weather, dry out! Dont Forget The Weeds.Remember to keep weeding, this can prove to be important for a number of reasons. Weeding can help to conserve moisture and nutrients in the soil and prevents the spread of disease and insects. Sunny Houseplants. With the weather warming up nicely, give your houseplants a treat by standing them outside on the sunny days. Rose Care.Make sure that any roses you have are given a rose fertiliser feed, if you haven't done so earlier in the year. Also continue to spray them against pests and diseases, like aphids, ildrew and black spot where necessary. Lawn Care.Your lawns will require regular mowing, set the blades low, unless its really dry. Remember to apply a good lawn feed, and water occasionally. Aerating the lawn will improve drainage and allow it to take up moisture, but this must be done while the ground is wet, after rain or a good watering! And Relax!Take time to relax and enjoy your garden! Why not invite your friends and family, a barbecue is a great way for people to see how your hard work in the garden has provided such wonderful results.
